When life doesn’t go as desired, it is the virtue of hope that helps us keep moving forward. We can be encouraged when we look at Proverbs 23:18 “Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.”
Dear friend, I have to remind myself over and over again that God is truly in control and that hope for a better future is not wishful thinking. Hope has a name, hope is found in Jesus. (Psalm 39:7)
We see over and over again in God’s word that He has empathy and compassion for His children when they are hurting. He is near to us when we are heartbroken. (Psalm 34:18) We have the book of Lamentations, assuring us that we can find our hope in Him. (Lamentations 34:18)
In creating us, God knew that our lives would endure seasons of suffering, hurting and grieving. (John 16:33)
When we look at the lives of Job, David, Hannah, Joseph, Mary, and Jesus Christ, we are reminded that each one of them knew times of grief and brokenness.
They placed their hope in God amidst their trials. We too can place our hope in Jesus and hold onto Him for all His promises are faithful and just.
Difficult seasons are inevitable, but God's faithfulness to heal is more powerful.
Though circumstances in life can cause uncertainty, we can be assured that God knows the plans he has for you and me, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
