Growing Pains

Vol. 1 Issue 2-March 2013

Dear Friends,

I hope all is well and that this season of Easter is filled with joy and hope for you and your family. A month ago I experienced the most life changing transition of my life. My vocation changed from being a college graduate working jobs here and there, to a full-time vocation as an International Missionary at Crossover Church, Tampa FL.

It is for a fact that we all in life go through seasons that will build our character and determine certain life decisions we take on. I am currently going through multiple changes in a short time period. In the midst of this change, I have experienced so many feelings: from excitement and joy to being overwhelmed and insecure. One thing is for a fact, I am excited about the privilege of being used by God. As much as I can see the spiritual maturity I am reaching by being in the Word, having fellowship with other believers, and being committed to serve I have realized that God will never ever let you get comfortable. Life is a test, and God will give all of us an assignment while being here on earth. God wants to stretch all of us and that might come with growing pains.

Certain days I wake up and ask God: “Are you sure that you want me to do this God?” Especially, when I doubt myself or do not feel confident enough that I could do the task that I am asked to complete. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me – 2 Corinthians 12:9

As I am in my growing pains phase and I learn to rely fully with everything on God, I am able to have joy and so much peace while going through this new season. Full-time ministry is exciting, challenging, overwhelming, worthy, wholehearted and most of all so rewarding. Especially when you see others around you grow in Christ and grasp what it means to have a relationship with Christ.
Lastly, we all have a mission and staying passionate is so important. I truly look forward to the next month of full-time ministry.

A New Season

 Vol. 1 Issue 1 February

Greetings Crossover Family,

My name is Nikita Carter and I have been a member at Crossover Church for about 4 years now. It might come as a surprise if I share with you that I emigrated 5 ½ years ago to America from Amsterdam, The Netherlands to pursue my college education abroad. Four years ago I had no idea of what my purpose in Christ was or my calling. But, Crossover Church has been the foundation for me to mature spiritually in my walk with Christ. I rediscovered Christ. I developed my talents, gifts and abilities in Christ and I found out how to display Christ with my talents and my life.

Four months ago, I truly believed that I would no longer be able to stay in America, due to the fact of the expiration of my student visa. Today, I can truly confess that God made a way for me. He has placed a calling on my life and I have accepted to answer His call. I never imagined in a million years what my calling was going to be. However, this year 2013 is officially the start of me living for God instead of me living for me. I am starting my life’s purpose as a full-time International Urban missionary in America at Crossover Church. The statement: “Walk by faith, not by sight” is becoming a true meaning for me more than ever before.

According to 1 Peter 4:10: "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." God has given me the gift of dance, not just to keep it to myself, but to bring Glory to Him and to serve others. With this gift God is giving me an assignment, which is to start and lead a dance ministry at Crossover that will re conciliate people with God, the community and self.

It is an honor for me to serve others here at Crossover and I feel blessed for the opportunity to extend my stay here in the USA. Most importantly, I want to see God’s will be done. Crossover Church continues to grow, to disciple, to fellowship, to minister and to change lives through its engaging and relevant message: The Gospel.

I am excited to see what God is going to do in 2013 in our church, in our families, in our relationships.  I look forward to connect with all of you here at Crossover and to get to know you all personally, to pray for you and your families and I pray that God can move on your heart to support me as I strive to continue to do His will.
