Becoming still

Vol. 2 Issue 4- May 2014

Greetings to You

In case you don’t know me, I like to take the time to briefly re-introduce myself. You might be new to Crossover Church or perhaps you have been here for a long period of time and maybe we have never fully met. I know one thing though, everyone has a story right? Well here is mine:

At the beginning of 2013 last year I took a leap of faith and started serving full-time at Crossover Church as a missionary/arts intern. I say leap of faith, because it meant letting go of my own understanding, standards and ways. I learned to rely fully on God as I surrendered my comfort life for an adventurous, life-changing, and transformational life path with God. Every month of living expenses such as housing, food, transportation etc. in the USA is covered by supporters who have taken a leap of faith as well to support me in my missionary stay at Crossover Church. It sounds crazy right? Perhaps, but crazy has become the norm after a year living as a full-time missionary. One thing I know for sure: Where God guides, He provides and all he requires is faith to begin with.

Now you know a little bit about my story, and I look forward to meeting you and hear yours as you worship at Crossover Church.

Becoming Still
Becoming still what is that anyway? In this day and age we hardly ever stop. There always seems to be more that can be done. If sleep was not a necessity to function well, I wonder how many people would truly sleep. We never really wish for less hours in a day, but always for more. I am guilty of it a 100% and that’s why I intentionally want to practice how to be still. Imagine how our relationships with family and friends would look like if we truly took time to be still and listen more. Even better think about how your relationship with God would be if we just became still and allowed ourselves a good portion of time to hear from God and to be with God, instead of Him having to wonder or hope if we will have time for God today.

I like to close out with a few questions to ponder on:

1. On who or what do I spend most of my time?
2. Where do I spend most hours of my day?
3. Do I include God in my daily life?

I hope you choose to be still this week and seek Him before we seek everybody and everything else.

Have a wonderful month of June and stay tune!

He says: Be still and know that I am God
— Psalm 46:10

Blessings in Disguise

Vol. 2 Issue 3

A Letter to you:

How is your soul today? And what does that mean anyway? It means that I am interested to see how life is going beneath the surface and the friendly smile that most people will experience from you when you’re in school, on the road, at work or in church.

I have to confess when someone is asking me how are you doing? I am quick to answer: “I am great.” Even when it means life is upside down. A month ago I experienced a heartache I never thought I had to experience in my work environment. Truth be told my work environment is not just a place to work, it is where I dedicate and commit majority of my time and my life. When something happens it often feels personal.

Seasons in Life
Life is definitely a constant change, yet it is how we respond when that change comes. We will experience prosperity and even adversity while residing on earth. Resistance will only prolong our progress, but flexibility will help us stretch and grow and develop our character.

God is a loving, faithful, merciful, and good God. He desires us to become closer to Him and to follow after His son Jesus. When we go through hard times, it is easy to start complaining or to question where is God. When I faced adversity it was by no means easy, but I chose to be flexible, I made up my mind and was determined to learn from my pain, as well grow into the woman God wants me to be. Each trial in my life has truly been a blessing in disguise.

Are you facing any difficulties today? Do you feel heavy at heart? Does your pain feel like it is too much? I am here to encourage you that whatever the situation is do not remain focused on the pain and start looking to the one who is bigger than anything you will ever face.
Look to God for He will never leave nor forsake you.

Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice!

Be a transformer

Vol. 2 Issue 2

Dear Friend,

I hope all is well and that you enjoyed the Limitless Life series that we just completed here at Crossover Church. I know I was blessed to study the book Limitless Life by Derwin Gray. Not to forget the amazing final week where we had Derwin Gray as our guest speaker. May you remember everyday how much God loves you and that you are adopted by Him and that your purpose is found in God the Creator of all things.

Every month when I write to you, I always ask God: “God what will you share through me this month to your people?” I like to share this month to you and those around you, to be a transformer. Live a limitless life daily with God, and ask God how he can use you for His kingdom to be a blessing.

If you walked into the lobby, you might have seen there is some transformation going on to one of the wings. That’s right! The Crossover Music & Arts Center (CMAC) ministry has had a dream for a year now to have a professional dance floor to the benefit of the community of Crossover Church. This dance floor will allow us to offer dance classes and other arts classes in a professional setting. In 2013 $3000 was raised through a variety of fundraisers. This amount has allowed us to start the process of building the foundation for a professional dance floor. We still have at least a need for another $4000 to raise, so please keep us in prayer and if you feel called to be a transformer in the CMAC ministry then it would be a blessing as well.

Many great projects are started, but it takes an army of people who are committed and who believe in the mission and vision that's laid out.

Be a transformer in your household, in your job, at school, and in the church where you serve. God gives us ideas and visions not just to have but expand and trust Him with all your talents and gifts.

You are called and you have a purpose, now go out and transform for the Kingdom of God!

Sincerely,

Nikita Carter
